My 98 mustang lost all power and stalled on the freeway. I pulled over to the shoulder and tried to start it but it wouldn't start, it had no power anywhere the power locks were out all power was out. It was totally dead. The battery was dead so I put in a brand new one, the fuses were good and the ignition switch was good a mechanic checked it but it is still dead and won't start. Can't run a diagnostic because it has no power. Can you help?

What did the mechanic say or find?

Follow the smaller positive battery wire to the under-hood fuse box and be sure that connection is clean and tight.

There is power coming from the fuse box to the ignition switch.

The ignition switch has multiple sections that each feed multiple circuits, so something should be working.

Turn the head light switch on, then measure the voltage across the battery posts, then measure the voltage on the large output terminal on the generator.
