battery light came on its hard to steer and it's running hot.

Battery light is a charging system issue. Hard to steer probably means the power steering pump isn't producing enough pressure to provide assist. Running hot could be low coolant, stuck thermostat, clogged radiator, fan not turning, or a water pump not pumping coolant.
