door latch dose not properly latch can i replace it myself

It may just need adjusted. The post that it attaches to is adjustable. Try that. If it doesn't help, remove the inner door panel, remove the linkage to the latch, there are two screws that you remove and the assembly comes out. Reverse the procedure to replace it.
