im trying to figure out why my car was running good has oil antifreeze is good shut it off at the store and when i started it it was rapping top end like a machine gun.i was told maybe a collasped valve or it might be something else any help would be appriciated thank you

IF it was top end, chances are it is a collapsed lifter. Does the sound go away after running for awhile?
