I have a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria police interceptor. I lost power to my instument guages, I replaced the fuse, and it blew again in minutes. Also the rear defrost quit at the same time, and I am not able to find the problem. Please help, our family of 4 has been without income for 3 months, and I desperately need to fix this car to look for work.

Have you checked the wiring to the cluster for damaged wiring that could be shorting? Also, have you had the body control module tested?

Thank-you for your prompt reply... when our family gets back on it's financial feet I will be donating to your site. However, I have checked the instrument cluster and wiring, and found nothing, I do not know where the BCM is located, or how to test it. I do have an OBDII tester, and it is not showing and codes, the car does run and drive, but have no instruments. Plaese help

Look at the wires coming from the OD button down to the side of the column. These are bad about chafing the wire and shorting out.

That is correct. Also, as far as the BCM, it requires special equipment to be checked. Please note, the BCM will not set a OBD2 code.

Let me know what you find. I'll do my best to help.
