1998 FORD CONTOUR, ROUGH GETTING IT TO START, BUT DOES, SOUNDS SEMI-NORMAL ONCE IT IS GOING, DRIVES IN REVERSE NORMAL, BUT AS SOON AS IT IS PUT INTO A FORWARD GEAR (D, 1, 2) CAR DIES INSTANTLY, LIKE SOMEONE TURNING OFF A LIGHT SWITCH. CAN EVEN GO UP A BIT OF AN INCLINE IN REVERSE GOING UP THE DRIVEWAY AND SEEMS NORMAL.?

If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes. Check fuel pump pressure. Directions are on our homepage under the DIY section. Also, check for major vacuum leaks.
