Car only accelerates from stop in D2

"My car is not accelerating from a stop unless I am in drive2. Once I get it up to 20 MPH, I can switch over to regular drive and it is fine. Any ideas?"

internal failure. take it to a trans shop to confirm and get a bid for an overhaul.
