We don't have that code in our Mitchell 1 manuals. However I did find this. Hope this helps.
The diagnostic test code 1281 means that engine is cold. It means that the thermostat temperature is below normal working temperatures during vehicle travel. These codes are usually in the owner's manual that you can refer to. However, if you do not have one you can inquire for one from the dealers.
