I'm a single mom w/o a lot of money, so I replaced the brake booster and now the brake lights won't shut off. Can you tell me how to fix this, please? Thanks a bunch!

In the process, the brake pedal probably got pushed back too far and over-adjusted the brake light switch. Look at the plunger to see if it is contacting the arm of the brake pedal. You can also verify that's the problem by pushing the plunger in with your finger and watching if the brake lights go out.

There's a notation on that switch that says it can not be readjusted, it must be replaced, but I have been able to pull that plunger out on a few. There may be a small lever on the side of the switch too. The idea is to let the switch self-adjust, then you lock it in that position with that lever. I never took one apart to see why it can't be readjusted, so I don't know what will happen if you try.

Why did you replace the booster? They give very little trouble. Did it solve your problem?
