I have a 98 chevy 1500 4x4. Today I went out to start it and it cranked over fine but no fire I let go of key, I thought eng was stopped turnded key and starter grear ground alittle. Repeated starts some times purduces a pause in eng cranking when i stop cranking it might back fire slightly. It was dry and 42 out this morning. I am in the process of putting new plug wires but now it raining out. 6 months ago I replaced the fuel pump. Truck had no symtoms proceeding today. I have no chip in my Ignition key. I do most of my own basic repairs, brakes, starter, water pumps ect. The only tools I own are wrenches. Any old-school suggestions for this old-school driveway mechanic?
