how do I change the door pins on 1998 chevy

You may have to remove the hinge, itself.

Just to add to this i have used a door hinge spring compression tool to remove the springs and then a floor jack to support the weight of the door while i change the pin and bushings.They sell a hinge and bushing kit for them but say some reaming may be need to install it.You would also need some punches and hammer and something to possibly ream the hole out for a good fit.Its not the easiest thing to do but also not the hardest to do.
