1998 Chevrolet Truck Burning out starters

I have installed 3 different starters into my truck in the last year, and the starters continue to quit on me. I am about to put on my 4th starter since last April. What could the underlying problem be?

I f they aren't shimmed correctly they will eat starters up. your engagement is off probably and needs at least 1 shim to correct it. they are available at auto parts. read instructions in box next starter. they should tell you
