my 5.7 vortec cuts out early in each gear at top of range it smoothes out replaceded plugs wires rotor cap,i am just learning about DRIVEABILITY, what could it be do i need to buy a code scanner for this and future hick-ups?

The first thing I would do is have it scanned for codes and let me know that exact code numbers not code descriptions? That's where I would start you could also check fuel pressure?
