Gas gauge

Why would the gas gauge stop working and is there any way I could possibly fix it with out spending too much it will go from the correct level and then drop down to E.

You will need to replace the sending unit in the tank.

If thats the fuel pump its been replaced already along with the fuel filter

The fuel pump is mounted to the sending unit. Possiably damaged when pump was replaced or installed inproperly.U will need to replace the sending unit.
