Car is a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu, 3.1 ltr Motor. Have Changed Water Pump, does not have thermostate in car now. Going to put one in. Does Not having a Thermostate cause it to run Hot?

It will cause the engine not to come up to its normal operating temperature and the CTS will not switch to closed loop-providing fuel when not needed and also cooling fan might not come on.
