I have a 1998 Chev Lumina and after having my oil changed by a mechanic, I now have a constant ticking sound coming from the engine. I believe this to be a loose tappet and if correct, can you tell me how to repair this problem? Thank you.

Could be a wrong type oil vicosity used or valve lifter problem -check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge-

Thank you for the quick answer. Just so I understand correctly, are you saying that perhaps the wrong number of oil (like 5w50 or 10w30) is what you are talking about. If so, I have relocated to Mexico and to be honest did not ask what viscosity was used. I know that they use a thinner oil here due to the heat. Would this be the possible problem? Again, thank you for your assistance with my problem.
