tempature gauge not working on 98 chevy pu. Just changed sensor, still not working

Did you replace the correct sensor? There is a temp sending unit and a temp sensor.

I changed the temp sensor located in front of the thermostat housing. Where is the temp sending unit located?

I believe it is either on the intake or on the side of the engine block. It's purpose is to tell the computer the ambient temp and coolant temp. From that, the computer determines how rich or lean to make the fuel mixture.
