car made a loud noise and felt like car was going jump forward when I put car in Drive

Check Engine Light has come on. Automatic Trany. Engine was cold. Started car put it in Drive and it made a loud noise and felt like it jumped. Put back in Park with no problem. Then went threw each gear with no issues until I placed it in Drive again. Got home put it in park and went threw each gear to include DRIVE no problems at all. Check engine light is still on

Are starting point is to have the car scanned for codes and post the exact code numbers for me not code descriptions on here.Lets start here so we have a direction to start looking.
