REAR BRAKE SHOES
NOTE:Mark position of springs and star adjusters for reassembly reference. Note lengths of brake linings and their shoe locations.

Removal
Release parking brake. Loosen parking brake cable at equalizer. If necessary, back off brake adjustment before removing brake drums. Unhook return springs from anchor plate and brake shoes. Remove return springs. Remove hold-down springs and pins. Remove actuator lever return spring, lever and bearing sleeve.
Remove parking brake strut and spring. Remove brake shoes, adjusting screw (noting position) and spring from backing plate. Disconnect parking brake lever and cable from shoe by removing circlip. Remove parking brake lever pin from secondary shoe.
Installation
Lubricate fulcrum end of parking brake lever, and attach to secondary shoe. Connect adjusting screw spring. Place adjusting screw in position. Ensure star is aligned with adjusting hole. Lubricate where shoes and parking brake cable contacts backing plate. Position and insert shoes into wheel cylinders or links.
Install parking brake strut and spring between parking brake lever and primary shoe. Install actuating lever, pawl, actuator return spring and actuating link. Adjust brake shoes to drums, and adjust parking brake. Install wheels, and tighten lug nuts to specification.
Check for proper operation of brakes before moving vehicle.
