bmw 316i compact sport

i have a bmw 316i compact sport.e36 on a s reg.i need the sump gasket changing which i have.it doesnt look an easy job because the steering rack is going across it.is there any tips to doing it or could you tell me whats involved and is there any easy way round it.thanks ryan

If it were easy, anyone could do it. Support the engine and drop the subframe out of the way. I support the engine with a brace that holds the engine up from above and then drop the subframe and steering rack out from underneath.
