Oil leak at distributor unit-- does the distributor need to be totaly replaced, how costly?

Garage said need tune up -- oil filled up distributor cap becouse of leak at seal of distributor. Needs tobe replaced becouse inner seal is part of the distributor?

It can leak 2 ways. It can leak around the distributor which can be sealed without a new distributor or it can leak through the distributor, in which case it needs a new distributor.

There's no need to replace it-change the O-ring and gasket on it-

If you find oil on the inside of the distributor then it would require a new distributor.
