i'm in this forum because i want to right advice. i bought an oil pump ( with all the seals installed on a housing). The paper gasket of the housing-to-block that came with the part, in the same cardboard box, was kinked at one of the bolt holes. I asked an auto-parts personnel about it: he said, because the gasket wasn't torn, it would be fine to install.
Because it is a lot of work to get to the oil pump, i want peace of mind when i install the new part,
Will the kink on the paper gasket affect the service life of the new part.
Thank you.

It will be fine, a small amount of liquid sealant will also help.
