I have to replace the water pump. I am wonder it is as simple as replacing the pump or do I have to take a bunch of stuff apart to get to it?

There are always more things to be removed than the water pump.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-a-water-pump

Check out above link.

Removal & Installation
1. Remove lower engine cover. Drain cooling system. Remove upper radiator hose from radiator. Remove engine oil dipstick tube with "O" ring.
2. Remove power steering pump drive belt. Remove upper and lower fan shrouds. Remove A/C compressor and water pump drive belts. Remove cooling fan, fan clutch and water pump pulley. Remove water pump and gasket.
3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Use a NEW gasket. Tighten bolts/nuts to specifications. Fill cooling system.
