My father in law has a 97 subaru legacy,it has been sitting in a dry garage for three years. He and his friend(both in their 80s with memory problems) decided to try to unplug the clock to stop battery drain. they ended up disconnecting the battery, but now when you reconnect the battery a marker or signal light begins to flash. unhook then hookup again and a different light flashes. Any ideas on where to start?

make sure the battery is fully charged. take it to a shop and have them charge the battery and then bring it home and install it and see if it is better. low voltage does a lot of goofy things.

Disconnect the battery, turn the ignition to the on position. Reconnect the battery. Security system is what is causing the lights to flash.
