Losing acceleration?

Im flooring the gas pedal, almost red lining, but my acceleration is way below the normal, and I'm smelling something burning, what do you think is the problem?

Do you have a check engnine light and when was the last tune-up?

Your clutch could be slipping if not Could be one of the following below -check and test:

Oxygen sensors.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard.
