Put the car in reverse-all of a sudden gearshift is loose, does nothing, car stuck in reverse, removed console, it came loose at that round bushing where it connects to shifter rod, did emergency repair, wired together, where can I get that bushing? I hope I don't have to replace the ring on the rod too. Please advise.

The dealer is the only place to find that stuff. Have your VIN number ready for them.

Just to add on that answer if it's just the outside cable bushing at the inside shifter then you can get the repair kit at oreilly auto part's. It's a dorman part the part number is Part # : 14043. Let me know how it goes. That is a common part to fail on that car the dealer only sell's the cable's last I saw.

I am confused-it was around the metal stud that connects to the vertical arm, and inside the ring that is part of the main shift rod/cable, wonder what holds it there, we just got oreilly stores here in ohio. I hope I explained it ok. Thanks

The cable inside the car on the shifter closest to the drivers seat right? If so that cable end break's really common on those car's I gave you the part number for repairing the cable end take that number to your oreilly store and get one. It's a pretty easy fix. Let me know how it goes.

Can you post a picture of it?I have never seen the other cable end fail it has always been the cable closest to the driver seat. That's why they make a repair kit for that cable end. If it's the other cable then you will have to replace the cable's.

Ohhh, did not want to hear that, for now I weaved safety wire in and around area, did a tight twist with lineman's pliers plus 2 diagonal tie wraps, already put the console back. Think it will hold.I appriciate your expertise. Rob

I can't say for sure how long it will hold for?The cable end i'm talking about has a black end and it has a closed end. That is the one they sell the repair kit for. The other cable is white has a open end and is closer to the passenger seat.
