I have a 97 Saturn SC2 that shut off while slowing down to stop at a red light. And now will only start if I push the gas. As soon as I let my foot off the gas my car will shut off. What could this be? And what would be the first step to troubleshooting?

Do you have any codes?If not check for codes?Sounds like a bad coolant temp sensor though really common on those cars. Also inspect the connector to the sensor if the inside of the connector is blue or green you will have to replace the connector also. The sensors are only 10.
