i cant get my fuel gauge to work

I have a 1997 pontiac grand prix my fuel gauge don't work and I changed the entire fuel pump and it still don't work.

WHen you changed the whole fuel pump did you also replace the fuel sending unit that snaps on the fuel pump housing?Or did you reuse the old one from the old fuel pump housing?
