I took off the spark plug wires and found oil on the number four wire. ( assuming they're number left to right) Engine is the 2.4L, 4 cylinder. How serious is this and could I repair it myself. It's a secondary vehicle.

What was the reason you took the wires off? You might be able to repair this issue, what are your resources/abilities?

Was told the engine was "missing" so was going to change plugs and wires. As far as abilities go, I am the original owner and stopped taking back to dealer 10 years ago. I replaced starter, brakes, (including rear drums, what an education that was) recharged a/c, all fluid and filter changes etc, but never anything inside the engine as it were.

Mis-firing as distinct from missing I'm sure.
Missing is more like "WHERE DID THE MOTOR GO???"
Alldata shows 2 VIN choices for that vehicle.
Perhaps some cleaning would be in order, to find the source of the oil leak.
As perhaps replacement of the valve cover gasket.
And the plugs and wires of course.

How difficult is that? I see a few components that I would suspect are in the way and would have to be removed for repair. Also, I did try to remove the spark plugs with a plug wrench and they absolutely would not move. Thanks

Electrolysis never sleeps. Try some sort of penetrating fluid to assist in their removal. The labor for the gasket should be well within your ability.

1 More question, I discovered a fluid leaking (it seems to be water) under the car and tracked it to a pipe (or something similar) on the opposite side of the dash on the engine's left side(passenger side). What's that all about?
