1997 Plymouth Breeze Wondering Solution Car Might Put Reverse Back Works Just

I was wondering what a solution for my car might be.
When I put my car in reverse to back up it works just fine, then when I put it in drive nothing happens till I hit about 3500 rpm. My car only does this when it's not warmed up, another thing is when I'm driving it will seem like it jumps out of gear. When I get to 3500 rpm then it's fine again.

chekc trans fluid for being full then have a trans guy look at it. sound like trans is going
