crank no start

i have a 97 oldsmobile lss with the 3.8l v6, it will crank and try to start but wont, i have spark in all 6 cylinders, the fuel pressure is 52, but there is no compression in cylinder 1 and 5 is there anything i can check before changing the timing chain

why is there no compression?? if it is bent valves, then the heads have to come off for repair. replacing the chain and guides are part of this repair.
