Hello. I have a 1997 Oldsmobile 88 LS with about 120,000 miles on it. I have been driving it back and forth to work without any problems (40 miles round trip) for about 5 years. I drove it to work this morning without any problems. I attempted to start it when leaving work and it started up but began to sputter and died after a few seconds. I put about a gallon of gas in it just to make sure I didn't run out of gas (gauge stopped working a while back). I tried starting it numerous times but ran into the same problem - It starts up, sputters, then dies. When I step on the accelerator nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Did the check engine light stay on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure? It sounds like the pump may have gone bad.

Let me know.
