Speedometer removal

My speedometer stopped working, what has to be removed to take it out?

This diagram is all of the information that I can find regarding how to pull the cluster. If I am reading it right, the only thing that needs to come out is the cover that is in front of the cluster. I hope that this helps.

I am going to try the Vehicle Speed Sensor first then if that does not resolve the problem I will remove the speedometer. My check engine code shows Po500 ( VSS ). Thanks for your answer.
