1997 Mitsubishi Pajero Put Trans Into Drive Wants Take Off 3rd Gear Through

when i put the trans into drive it wants to take off in 3rd gear, but if i go through the gears manualy, low,second,then drive, it operates fine, but not in drive, i have checked the fluid level is fine, and i have also changed the ECU but no joy, can you help me?

scan for faults, may have a stuck torque converter lock up clutch
