Hello,
This issue could be due to a bad idle air control valve.
When the vehicle gets put on drive it put more load on the engine, the IAC is designed to provide more air to the engine during a load change. If it is unable to do that the engine can stall. This can also happen when the IAC is dirty and have too much internal restriction, which leads to air not flowing through it as designed.
On this vehicle the idle air control valve is a part of the throttle body.
Try cleaning out the IAC as well as the throttle body. Many times, a simple cleaning out can fix this type of drivability issues.
