i have a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse and to shift from first into second i have to do it real slow and it wont go into reverse at all, where do i start to fix this??

I would try changing the oil in the transmission first. Redline synthetic is the oil of choice for snarky trannys. If that dont work, look for a replacement in the salvage yards.
