Car knocking while driving

why does my 1997 eclipse have a knocking sound underneath when moving?
My eclipse accelerates itself when put in neutal, why?

The knocking noise could be anything from bad suspension bushes/links to drivetrain faults and you need to verify the source.

The surging could be due to a faulty IAC or lack of coolant affecting the idling system.
