I have not changed my timing belt on my 1997 3000GT yet. What happens if the timing belt goes? It has 85,000 original miles after 18 years. I am the original owner.

if it is a 3.0L 12 valve engine nothing other than belt replacement. If it's other 3.0L like dohc or sohc 24 valve you'll bend valves and possibly wreck the engine. Just with age in either case get a timing belt kit put on it's normally the belt, tensioner, water pump if needed and maybe a pulley
