1997 Mercury Sable electrical

When I turn the key on and start the car, the door open indicator light comes on at the dash and closing the door the light will not go out. The interior lights come on and do not go out. Also, the automatic lock for closing the door on the driver side will not lock the door while the key is on. After turning the key off, I can lock the door with the lock, but the interior lights will not go out.

Check to see if the door switch is broken inside or rusted off. There are two relay s in dash for this one is battery saver and theother is interiorlight relay check with a known good relay it also may be the GEM module so a pro will need to scan it to see if that is screwed up as well.
