Check engine light came on (car runs fine) and code reader gave P0705 Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL input). Changed neutral safety switch and then car wouldn't start. Did I need to make an adjustment or reset the computer ( disconnect battery?). Was that the correct fix for the original code?

If you mean not able to crank the engine after replacement of the switch, yes, it has to be installed correctly in order for the starting circuit to function correctly.

Place the transmission in N and note the range switch. There should be a mark for you to align before tightening the holding bolts.
