When I start my jeep it revs up and stays there. I changed exhaust manifold and gasket. That is when it started. Hooked computer to it and it said throttle position sensor fault. So I changed it. It still does it.

Are you sure the throttle cable isn't pinched and holding the throttle open?

WITH THE SNOUT REMOVED. CAN YOU SEE THE BIG OLE BUTTERFLY VALVE FULLY CLOSED INSIDE THE THROTTLE BODY?

WHAT ABOUT WIRING. IS IT POSSIBLE YOU PINCHED A WIRE IN THE MANIFOLD?

. MAYBE EVEN PINCHED IT, AND THEN YOU PUSHED IT OUT OF THE WAY?

. MAYBE YOU ACCIDENTALLY MELTED SOME WIRES ON THE MANIFOLD?

WHAT ENGINE YOU GOT?

CAN YOU SEND PICS OF THE SIDE YOU WERE REPLACING THE GASKET ON?

WHAT EXACTLY WAS THE CODE.P0. NOT THE INTERPRETATION!

AS LONG AS YOU CONTINUE TO RESPOND. BOTH OF US WILL CONTINUE TO TRY!

SEEMS MY PICS ARE "TOO BIG" NOWADAYS

WIFE GOT ME A NICE CANNON CAMERA 2 YEARS AGO FOR CHRISTMAS SO I COULD MAKE PRETTY PICS ON HERE. THEY USED TO WORK SEVERAL SITE REMODELS AGO. NOW ONLY THE OLE CHEAP KODAK EASY-SHARE PICS COME THRU

1ST PIC IS A "IAC". INTAKE AIR CONTROL

I JUST VERIFIED THAT THE 2.5L AND 4.0L LOOK VERY MUCH THE SAME

THE IAC CONTROLS AIR FOR IDLE. IT IS SORTA A LEAPFROG OF AIR OVER THE BUTTERFLY. THE COMPUTER MAKES IT OPEN/ CLOSE/ LEVITATE TO KEEP THE IDLE STEADY. THE COMPUTER USES THE OTHER SENSORS TO DECIDE WHAT IT SHOULD DO

THE POINTY END IS INSIDE THE THROTTLE BODY CASTING AND IS OVER A HOLE

LET'S. SEE IF THIS PUPPY IS PLUGGED IN. WIRES ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. MAYBE EVEN TAKE IT LOOSE, LOOK IN THE HOLE. CLEAN IT WITH THROTTLE BODY CLEANER

IF THIS PUPPY IS "STUCK OPEN". FOR WHATEVER REASON. THE ENGINE WILL RACE!

IT IS POSSIBLE THAT IT HAS GONE BAD. BUT LETS RULE OUT STUFF, BEFORE YOU REPLACE IT

KEEP US INFORMED

I have checked wiring and looks good no pinching. Don't remember exact what code said except tps fault. But what you are saying about IAC might be the problem because thats what it does when you start it is it races and stay there. Also when I had the intake off I cleaned it, thinking it was carb cleaner I used realizing afterwards it was brake cleaner. Could that cause to go bad. And how do I test the IAC to see if it works. Also do I have to clear codes after I replaced tps. Thanks for help!

WELL SIR.......IT LOOKS AS THOUGH I'M NOT GETTING EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS ANY MORE FOR WHAT I ANSWER.

I JUST HAPPENED TO STUMBLE BACK ON TO YOU WHILE LOOKING FOR MORE REAL JEEPS TO ANSWER.

WITHOUT A PICOSCOPE (GOING TO A SHOP...SPEND $$$), I JUST DON'T KNOW OF ANOTHER "CHEAP" WAY TO TEST IT.......OTHER THAN PUTTING IT ON ANOTHER JEEP TO SEE THE RESULTS

THE IAC WILL EITHER WORK RIGHT, NOT LET IT IDLE, OR IDLE WAY TOO HIGH WHEN IT IS MESSED UP

I LOOKED IT UP AGAIN, AT ADVANCE AUTO PARTS, RIGHT AT $50......."A124" IS STILL WORKING.....MAYBE THIS COULD HELP YOU, AT LEAST MAYBE IN "TECHNIQUE"

https://www.2carpros.com/questions/2001-dodge-neon-milage-just-want-put-fliuds-their-locations

I PREFER NOT TO "THROW PARTS", BUT I'VE ALSO BEEN BACKED UP TO THE WALL TOO.....NOT WANTING TO HEAR THE TECHNICIAN SAY, "AFTER 20 HOURS OF TESTING, WE FOUND YOUR IAC WAS BAD......THAT'LL BE $1500 (FOR A $50 PART)........IT'S A "WEIGH THINGS OUT GAME" WHEN YOU DIY

KEEP US POSTED ON PROGRESS

I'LL BOOKMARK THIS POST, THIS TIME, SO I'LL BE SURE TO CHECK UP ON YOU
