When the air conditioning is on and I am driving the oil pressure gauge is fine. When i stop and brake for a light, the oil pressure gauge starts to gradually drop to 0. when i shut off the A/C the gauge rises to the normal pressure and does not drop again. The engine sounds fine.

The first thing is to find out exactly what you have for oil pressure warm and at idle. If it really is low, the crankshaft and connecting rod bearings are the likely suspects. Throughout the '90s they did have a lot of trouble with the sending units for the oil pressure gauges. If the actual pressure is okay, replace the sending unit.
