I have a 97' Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. When I bought it the previous owner had told me that the 4x4 was broken. What he told me was that it needed a new front differential and front transaxel. Estimated how much would it cost in labor and parts to fix my 4x4? Is it worth it?

I believe I would get a more professional 2nd opinion on what exactly is wrong with the vehicle---May not be as bad as you think (something stupid and simple), or it could be worse....(H.ell Damage!) Without more detailed info on your endeavor, its impossible to make the sort of judgment you desire!

I would get a second opinion. I would be likely to believe that the front axle actuator to be the problem over the front diff.
