This has to do with my 4 wheel drive in 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport. When in 4 wheel drive it is all over the road and when putback into 2 wheel it clunks and the jeep jumps.

VAGUE DESCRIPTION OF PUTTING IT BACK INTO 2

I DO NOT KNOW A WHOLE LOT ABOUT YOU JEEP

DO YOU HAVE AN OWNERS MANUAL?

WITH MY KINDA JEEPS, 4X4 IS TO BE USED ONLY ON "NON-HARD SURFACES"--(DIRT ROADS AND MUD)

HARD SURFACES TEND TO BIND THE DRIVE-TRAIN (EVEN THOUGH FRT AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL ARE THE SAME RATIO)

NON-STOCK MODIFICATIONS AND LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIALS MAY SORTA EXPONENTIATE THINGS!

SOFTER SURFACES-"SLIP" AND PROVIDE AN "OUTLET" FOR THE BINDING TO RELIEVE ITSELF

THIS MIGHT ACCOUNT FOR YOUR "CLUNK AND JUMP"

YOUR TURN

IS THAT SORTA HOW YOUR MANUAL READS?

THE MEDIC

THIS IS HOW ITS BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING WITH 4X4---EXCEPT FOR "ALL WHEEL DRIVE" OR IF YOU HAVE A QUADRATRAC SYSTEM, USING "EMERGENCY DRIVE" FOR THE WRONG REASONS IS NOT A GOOD THING!
