Hi guys,

I have a 1997 Infiniti Q45 sedan and just replaced the key and the key lock cylinder. The car turns over however, as soon as the engine fires, the computer kills the engine.

There is not a key fob on this car.

I know from other cars I have had to hold the brake, cycle the key 3 times every two minutes, et cetera. Can you guys help me out?

This is one for the dealer. According to a very high-level trainer, the only way to replace keys on an Infinity is to replace all lock cylinders, all keys, and the Body Computer. They must be ordered as a set from Japan at a cost of $1500.00. Now, understand that was for someone who bought a used car with only the valet key. That might not apply if you still have one original ignition key. The dealer will know if there is a transponder chip in the key. If there is, you need the correct key and that is where the new Body Computer gets involved.
