car overheated...stopped.. now turns over and wont start... could the coil pack have overheated and burnt out

Yes and also it could be loss of compression due to a failed head. Sensors can melt due to excessive heat and cause non starting. You need to find out what is missing by diagnostics. Guessing is going to be a waste of time and possibilities are a mile long.
