1997 Honda Accord transmission

The shifter is barely moving and is stuck in reverse.when moving the shifter it will go from neutral all the way to drive1 but will not go in drive just neutral and reverse

see if trans selector under hood moves to all gears with cable disconnected. if it does it's a cable broke or binding. if not its'a trans problem internal.
