Loud noise from catalytic converter

This noise came on suddenly when driving my car for second time today. It is a loud roaring/exhaust noise coming from the catalytic converter area. Sounds sorta like a "rice burner" but rough and awful. Also is not accelerating correctly and maybe like theautomatic transmission is not jumping gears correctly.

Is it okay to drive with this for a couple days, maybe ten miles a day not on highway?

could it be a hole/crack in the converter/exhaust or connection between them. what is more possible to happen
