Why does the ute stall when you put it into gear?

1997 Holden Executive ute, auto,3.8 litre, colunm change
Stalls when you put it into drive most of the time.Is it a throttle valve or computer problem. What is the best way to check.

If the idling speed is too low or rnginr is not running smoothly, it would stall.

Have you checked for trouble codes?
