1997 Gmc Sonoma Turn On Headlights Dashboard Lights Stop Working Headlights

When I turn on my headlights, the dashboard lights stop working. The headlights come on, then go off, then come back on. This keeps happening about every 10-15 seconds. If I turn on the interior light using the dimmer switch control, the headlights will stay on, and only go out occassionally.

It sounds like the headlight switch is bad.
